Arsenal vs Sheffield United

Arsenal and Sheffield United are set to go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners will head into the weekend’s action sat 10th in the Premier League with 28 points amassed from their previous 22 league outings.

Arsenal, after a spirited start to their last clash, were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace this past weekend.

This left the North London outfit a staggering 11 points adrift of a Champions League spot.

And while Arsenal can’t really afford to drop any points this weekend, if they wish to push for a top-four spot, there is a good chance they will.

Recently-promoted Sheffield United have been in fine form this term and currently find themselves sat 6th in the English top-flight.

The Blades also boast the joint second-best defence in the PL this campaign.

Arteta on links to John Stones

Ahead of the clash with Sheffield United, Mikel Arteta held his latest press conference on Wednesday.

One topic that came up during the presser was Arsenal’s links to Manchester City defender, John Stones.

With the winter window open and Arsenal’s defence arguably an area they need to strengthen, especially with Calum Chambers sidelined, the North London outfit have found themselves mentioned in connection with a move for Stones.

The Mirror recently reported that: ‘Manchester City and England defender Stones has been linked with a surprise reunion with his former Etihad Stadium coach Mikel Arteta in north London, with suggestions that a guarantee of game-time could tempt him to make the switch.’

However, when asked on Wednesday if there was any truth in the Stones rumours, Arteta claimed there was none at all:

“No, no truth at all.” As quoted by football.london.
