The reliable James Benge of Football.London has this evening provided a brief update on the injury picked up by Alexandre Lacazette in the North London derby.
Arsenal fight back
Unai Emery’s men welcomed Tottenham to the Emirates a short time ago, for a highly-anticipated derby showdown.
The two sides headed into proceedings with their sights set on an immediate bounce-back performance, having fallen to respective defeats last weekend.
It was hosts Arsenal, though, who were labelled as favourites by most ahead of kick-off.
“Arsenal to win comfortably, they’ll rip Spurs to shreds. I will go 4-1” 😲

The opening 40 minutes this evening, however, saw Spurs race out out to a 2-goal lead.
First, with just 10 minutes on the clock, a series of mistakes at the back from Arsenal eventually led to Christian Eriksen slotting home on the rebound, after Bernd Leno failed to adequately deal with Erik Lamela’s tame strike.
And the visitors went on to double their advantage half an hour later, as Harry Kane confidently dispatched from the spot after Granit Xhaka had taken out Heung-min Son in the Gunners’ box.
Arsenal, however, were not willing to go down without a fight.
And it was this never-say-due attitude which saw Unai Emery’s men come roaring back to secure a share of the spoils.
First, Alexandre Lacazette found the roof of the net in superb fashion on the stroke of the interval, after being played in by Nicolas Pepe.
Strike Partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then bagged the Gunners’ crucial 2nd, deftly slotting home past Hugo Lloris from Matteo Guendouzi’s sumptuous assist.
One negative note on a largely-positive evening for Arsenal, however, came on the personnel front.
With just over an hour on the clock, Alexandre Lacazette could be seen to be struggling with a fitness problem, eventually resulting in the Frenchman being replaced by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
As such, concern immediately spread amongst the Gunners faithful as to Lacazette’s well-being.
As per the aforementioned report from James Benge, though, Arsenal’s fans can rest easy.
Lacazette’s hamstring problem is said to be ‘pretty minor’, meaning the hitman should not face much time on the sidelines:
