Fulham vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa are set to get their 2019/20 FA Cup campaign underway on Saturday the 4th of January.
Villa will travel to Fulham for their FA Cup 3rd round tie.
Despite being in separate leagues, the two outfits have fairly recent history.
It would be Fulham who beat Aston Villa in the 2018 Championship play-off final to secure promotion to the Premier League.
The tables have, of course, since turned and it is now Villa who are sat in the English top-flight after Dean Smith’s side won the play-off final the following season with Fulham being relegated back to the Championship that same campaign.
Two huge injury blows for Aston Villa
Ahead of what is likely to be a lively affair, given the side’s recent history, Aston Villa have been dealt two huge blows.
Aston Villa would see off Burnley by two goals to one earlier this week.
And whilst picking up a much-needed three points was great for Villa, they lost two of their top stars in the process.
Both Tom Heaton and Wesley had to be withdrawn from proceedings vs the Clarets.
It has since been confirmed by Villa on Friday that both Heaton and Wesley will miss the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign due to injury:
The club can confirm that Tom Heaton and Wesley will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
The pair were injured during the second half of Wednesday’s 2-1 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor.
It has since been confirmed that both players have suffered knee ligament damage.

Both players have been pivotal members of Villa’s squad so far this term. And losing them both could prove to be a huge blow for the relegation-battling side.
