Aston Villa dealt Tyrone Mings injury blow vs Leicester

Aston Villa have this afternoon been dealt a blow on the injury front, during the club’s meeting with Leicester City.

Villa host Leicester

Dean Smith’s men are currently locked in action with the Foxes at Villa Park, in a Premier League clash.

The two sides headed into proceedings amid altogether-contrasting runs of form of late.

Hosts Villa had notched just a solitary win from their last 5 league outings, leaving them teetering above the relegation zone ahead of this afternoon’s action.

Leicester, on the other hand, were in the midst of an 8-game win streak across all competitions before today.

As such, it subsequently came as little surprise to see the visitors head into the interval in front at Villa Park.

Strikes from front pair Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho had given Leicester a 2-0 lead, but Villa managed to pull one back on the strike of half-time through Jack Grealish to set up a tense second 45.

Mings crocked

As well as heading into the interval a goal down, meanwhile, Aston Villa were also dealt a blow on the personnel front during the opening exchanges this afternoon.

The player to have picked up the problem was defender Tyrone Mings.

With 20 minutes on the clock, English international Mings pulled up clutching his hamstring, before surprisingly opting to return to the fray.

Mings’ decision, though, proved a poor one, as his struggles to run eventually led to Jamie Vardy surging through the heart of the hosts’ backline to put Leicester in front.

As such, just moments later, Mings was forced to limp off, to be replaced by Bjorn Engels.
