Barcelona pull plug on Neymar deal amid PSG’s hefty demands/Transfer ‘practically ruled out’

Widespread reports across the Spanish media this afternoon suggest that Barcelona have come to the decision to pull out of their move for PSG star Neymar.

Barca’s Neymar chase

The Blaugrana’s attempts to coax Brazilian attacker Neymar back to the club have, in terms of longevity and intensity of rumours, proven the talking point of the summer transfer window.

Two years on from his La Liga departure, Neymar has been hotly-tipped to make a return to the Camp Nou.

Despite having already added Antoine Griezmann to their attacking ranks this summer, the Spanish champions have long been said to be eyeing a further splash before the close of the European market next Monday.

To this point, however, PSG have proven an altogether-tough nut to crack.

Though reports have been rampant that Neymar himself has his heart set on linking back up with his former club, and PSG having publicly scolded their star man for his behaviour this summer, the capital outfit’s board have stood firm in demanding a premium fee for a player whom they splashed out a world-record 222 million Euro on in 2017.

An update on the situation yesterday afternoon, though, assured that a breakthrough had finally been made in negotiations.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio ran the story that a deal had been found between Barca and PSG, even going as far as to suggest that Neymar putting pen-to-paper on a contract back at the Camp Nou was imminent.

Barcelona admit defeat

The latest reports stemming from Spain today, however, suggest that Di Marzio’s claims were not only wide of the mark, but in fact couldn’t be further from the truth.

As per both Edu Polo of Mundo Deportivo and Cat Radio, both considered as tier 1 when it comes to Barcelona news, the Blaugrana have come to the definitive decision to pull the plug on their pursuit of Neymar.

This comes amid claims that PSG demanded 130 million Euro, the loan of Ousmane Dembele, and the permanent signatures of both Ivan Rakitic and young defender Jean-Clair Todibo:
