Nathan Ake has racked up 107 appearances across all competitions for Bournemouth.
The Dutch defender spent some time on loan with the Cherries before eventually making his move permanent in the summer of 2017.
Bournemouth are understood to have paid around £20m to Chelsea for Ake.
Throughout his time with Bournemouth Ake has arguably been their best defender.
The now 24-year-old has pace, is fairly strong and is good with his feet, a key attribute for many modern central defenders.
Ake linked with Chelsea & Man City
Ake is contracted to Bournemouth until July of 2022.
But given how impressive he has been over the last few seasons, it’s not too surprising to hear Ake is being linked with some top Premier League clubs.
Sky Sports News recently reported that Chelsea wish to bring Ake back to Stamford Bridge, now their transfer ban has been lifted.
The same report from Sky also claimed that Premier League champions Manchester City are looking to rival Chelsea for Ake’s services in the upcoming winter window.
Eddie Howe recently spoke about the future of the seemingly in-demand Ake, stating he is not in control of it at the moment:
“It would be obviously my wish to hold onto everybody but some of these things are out of our control].
“We will wait and see. I don’t want to give you evasive answers but I am in no control of that at the moment.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
Now, on Thursday, December 12th, according to Simon Johnson of The Athletic Bournemouth are holding a meeting over Ake’s future in light of interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
