A bad week for Everton

Carlo Ancelotti’s tactics have reportedly been questioned by the Everton players, while Marcel Brands was forced to confront angry fans at Finch Farm.

Everton suffered an embarrassing defeat the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

The Toffees were favourites for the clash, with their rivals fielding a heavily weakened team.

Despite that, Everton went on to lose the game 1-0, following a stunning strike from Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones.

The second half was particularly disappointing, with Everton players looking as though they had given up and run out of ideas.

That lead to widespread criticism from Everton fans, and a lot of hostility surrounds the club this week.

Now, according to an insightful report, the Everton dressing room is seemingly falling apart in the wake of that Anfield defeat.

Is it the players or the manager?

According to the Athletic, after their commitment was questioned by assistant boss Duncan Ferguson, some Everton players responded with defiance.

It’s claimed that some players believed they had given all they had during the second half, instead suggesting Carlo Ancelotti’s tactics as the season they struggled.

The Everton coaching staff were supposedly left ‘stunned’ by the defiance.

It’s also claimed that some in the squad believe Ancelotti’s tactics are ‘limiting the impact of certain players’.

Everton fans confront Marcel Brands

The hostility surrounding Everton reached a new peak on Wednesday afternoon too.

According to the Times, a group of Everton fans arrived at Finch Farm, the clubs training ground, to confront the players.

When security stopped them, the fans threatened to create a blockade if players did not come out to confront them.

In the end, director of football Marcel Brands came out to calm the disappointed fans, listening to their complaints.

One of their biggest grievances was they believe ‘Everton have become a destination for players to earn a big pay cheque without taking on the responsibility for improving the club’s fortunes.’

Safe to say, things need to improve quickly for Everton, otherwise, complaints will only get louder.
