As per a report from the Times, Christian Eriksen has moved a step closer to joining Serie A giants Inter Milan, after reaching an agreement over the personal terms of a contract.
The story surrounding the future of Danish international Eriksen has proven one of the talking points of English football for some time now.
The gifted midfielder has long stood as one of Tottenham’s key performers, since his arrival from Ajax in the summer of 2013.
The last 4 Premier League campaigns combined, including last season, saw Eriksen directly contribute to a hugely-impressive 83 goals.
However, despite his crucial role in Spurs’ midfield ranks, and the club’s best efforts, to this point, Eriksen has refused to put pen-to-paper on a new deal in north London.
The 94-time capped international’s current contract is set to expire in the summer.
Inter agreement reached
As such, speculation surrounding a potential Spurs exit for Eriksen has inevitably been forthcoming.
The Dane was hotly-tipped to depart the English capital last summer, when Real Madrid proved the outfit most persistently-touted as a potential destination.
In the end, however, Los Blancos evidently failed to meet Tottenham’s demands.
But, with just 6 months remaining on his deal at present, the opening of the January transfer window has since resulted in the rumours surrounding Eriksen’s future reemerging in force.
And, as per the aforementioned report from the Times this afternoon, one club appear to have taken a clear lead in the race for his signature.
The side in question? Inter Milan.
It is claimed that the Nerazzurri have found an agreement over the personal terms of a contact with Eriksen.
The deal would be worth £100,000-per-week after tax, and run until 2024.
The one sticking point as things stand, however, is Tottenham.
The north Londoners are said to be demanding £20 million for their wantaway midfielder, with it remaining to be seen whether Inter are prepared to splash out such a fee for a player with just 6 months remaining on his contract.
Tottenham want to sell Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan for about £20 million this month to prevent him leaving as a free agent in the summer and due to a perceived lack of effort in games. @garyjacob reports on the Dane’s potential move to Italy #THFC https://t.co/r11di0jo9o
