Crystal Palace early team news vs Aston Villa: Martin Kelly & Victor Camarasa updates

Crystal Palace were stunned by Colchester United in the Carabao Cup second round as they were eliminated on penalties.

After the defeat, the Athletic’s Matt Woosnam has revealed the answers to the following two questions.

Was Martin Kelly brought off because of an injury and when will we see more of Victor Camarasa?

Did Martin Kelly suffer an injury vs Colchester?

Martin Kelly was withdrawn at half-time and replaced by Gary Cahill.

However, Matt Woosnam does not believe Kelly was taken off due to an injury.

Kelly appeared to make it through the first-half without suffering a knock.

The 29-year-old featured in Saturday’s win at Old Trafford, as did Cahill, suggesting both were just given 45 minutes each.

It is assumed that Kelly will be available for Roy Hodgson’s side on Saturday at home to Aston Villa.

When will we see more of Victor Camarasa?

Victor Camarasa was given his debut for Palace in the cup last night after joining from Real Betis over the summer.

The midfielder failed to make the Eagles’ squad against Sheffield United and Manchester United.

He was also an unused substitute versus Everon.

Matt Woosnam believes that Roy Hodgson’s response was not encouraging for seeing more of him either.

The Athletic’s Palace correspondent claims the manager’s response suggests he is not producing enough in training.
