Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has provided updates on the fitness of both Nathan Ake and Callum Wilson, after the pair were forced off during his side’s loss at Liverpool.
The Cherries welcomed Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers to the Vitality Stadium yesterday afternoon, for their latest Premier League outing.
The two sides entered proceedings on altogether-contrasting runs of form, with Bournemouth in the midst of a 4-game losing streak, and Liverpool having dropped just 2 points all season.
As such, it came as little surprise when the Reds made short work of their hosts.
Goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah eventually saw Liverpool run out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, are now without a win since the beginning of last month, and sit just a point above the Premier League relegation zone.
The Cherries’ latest result, though, was not their only blow to have stemmed from yesterday’s action at the Vitality.
With 10 minutes remaining in the first-half, star defender Nathan Ake pulled up with a hamstring problem.
After being tended to by the hosts’ medical team, Ake was eventually forced off, to be replaced by Jack Simpson.
And, as has since been confirmed by Eddie Howe, Bournemouth look set to be without the services of their key stopper for an extended period:
‘It looked like a hamstring injury. It looked quite serious.’
‘He knew straight away I think, so it doesn’t look good.’
On Callum Wilson, who was also forced off versus Liverpool, meanwhile, Howe added:
‘I’m not 100 per cent sure what Callum’s problem was.’
‘I saw him stop sprinting and was concerned. He said ‘I’ve got to come off’. That’s all I know.’
