FIFA reveal finalists for The Best Men’s Player, Goalkeeper & Manager


The Best Men’s Player finalists

On Monday, September 2nd FIFA have announced the finalists for The Best awards.

The award ceremony will take place later this month on Monday, September 23rd.

The three finalists for the 2019 The Best Men’s Player are Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

Virgil van Dijk won the Champions League with Liverpool in June and also helped Liverpool keep the tightest defence in the 2018/19 Premier League season.

VVD has already won one award recently, being named the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2018/19.

The Best Goalkeeper & Manager nominees

Liverpool also have a couple more people nominated for other The Best awards.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is in the final three of The Best Men’s Coaches, along with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.

As well as having VVD and Klopp nominated for awards, the Champions League holders also have Allison up for an award.

The Brazilian helped Liverpool conceded just 22 goals in the league last season and also featured for his country as they won the 2019 Copa America.

Allison is competing for The Best Men’s Goalkeeper award against Barcelona’s Marc ter Stegen and Man City’s Ederson.
