Batshuayi’s time at Chelsea

Michy Batshuayi first joined Chelsea in July of 2016, moving from Ligue 1 outfit, Marseille.

Since his move to England, Batshuayi has really struggled to hold down any sort of regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian has been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace whilst on Chelsea’s books with varying degrees of success.

Batshuayi’s last loan spell saw him spend the second half of last campaign on loan with Palace.

The 25-year-old would perform pretty well, netting five in 11 league outings for the Eagles.

Lampard on Batshuayi’s future

Despite his lack of game time with Chelsea, Batshuayi did not move during the English transfer window this summer.

The forward could of course, still leave the Blues this summer as the European window remains open.

However, when asked about the future of Batshuayi in his press conference on Friday, Frank Lampard had this to say:

“The future is Michy is here as one of our strikers. We know we have three strikers but there will be opportunities for him.

“With Michy it’s important he trains at the top, top level every day, gets himself absolutely fit to play the way I want my strikers to play, which is constant movement on and off the ball and to try and score goals.

“But he’s very much our player and competing with Tammy and Oli for that space.” As quoted by Chelsea’s official website.
