Gary Neville ‘delighted’ Romelu Lukaku has left Man United

Lukaku & Man United

Romelu Lukaku had a bit of a tough time at Manchester United.

The Belgian struggled for form somewhat, especially in the 2018/19 season.

In 45 appearances across all competitions, Lukaku would score 15 goals last campaign.

It is not a terrible record but it wasn’t good enough for a striker in a top-six club who should be looking to finish in a Champions League place.

Lukaku joins Inter

Romelu Lukaku has now departed Manchester United for Inter Milan.

Inter are said to have paid £73m for the former Everton man.

Now, after Manchester United drew 1-1 with Southampton on Saturday, someone on Twitter has said Garry Neville drove Lukaku out.

The tweet which has since been deleted but the screenshot of it can be found here read:

Lukaku had a poor first touch but could score goals. @GNev2 drove him out for not being English.

Neville’s tweets

Neville would respond stating it has nothing to do with his nationality but he is delighted he has left:

I’m hearing you. I’m delighted he’s left . I won’t be happy till everyone single one of them that think they are better and bigger than the club and don’t want to be here are gone ! Nothing at all about his nationality or him not being a good player .He will always score goals .

Neville was then asked by a separate user replying to the above tweet:

What would you rather have Gary, a player who will score you 25 goals a year or a player that scores 10 max and taps the badge when he scores?

To which he responded:

I don’t care about 25 / 10 / 5 at the moment . We just need players that want to play for the club. Strip it back to that and then build a team … That’s what I want . It will take some time to do though so patience will be needed . Twitter has loads of patience so we are good.
