Man City to take on Atalanta
Manchester City will go head-to-head with Atalanta on Tuesday in the Champions League.
City will no doubt be looking to make it three wins out of three in CL games this season after Pep Guardiola’s men beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 and Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 earlier this season.
Those dominant displays put the Premier League champions top of their CL group heading into the Atalanta tie.
With 2nd and 3rd place Zagreb and Shakhtar facing off with each other this week, City could have a great chance to extend their lead atop of Group C.
The 2019/20 campaign is Atalanta’s first time competing in the Champions League and so far, it has shown in their displays.
The Serie A outfit are yet to pick up a single point in Europe’s top club competition, scoring just once and conceding six in their opening two ties.
Updates on Walker & Otamendi
Pep Guardiola would hold his pre-match press conference for the Atalanta game on Monday afternoon.
During the press conference, the Spaniard gave updates on two Man City players.
Both Nicolas Otamendi and Kyle Walker would miss Manchester City’s victory over Crystal Palace this past Saturday.
But according to Pep, Walker is getting better with the duo both training on Sunday.
Guardiola also spoke about Benjamin Mendy.
Mendy has had a rather torrid time with injuries since making the switch to Manchester but the Frenchman would manage 90 minutes vs Palace on Saturday.
Now, ahead of Atalanta, Guardiola stated that Mendy’s physical condition is not a big problem as it’s his biggest quality.
PEP @kylewalker2 is getting better. He and @Notamendi30 trained on Sunday.@benmendy23‘s physical condition is not a big problem as it’s his biggest quality. When he trains and plays for months, we will see the best Mendy possible.
