Jose Mourinho’s salary at Tottenham revealed
When Tottenham confirmed the appointment of Jose Mourinho on Wednesday, the club announced the following:
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) November 20, 2019
One key issue omitted from the Spurs statement, however, is the size of Mourinho’s pay-packet in north London.
Accordingly, the Daily Mail have reported on the largesse of Mourinho’s salary with Spurs:
Mourinho, who will earn almost double the wage of his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino at £15 million a year, said: ‘I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.’
How much did Mauricio Pochettino earn at Spurs?
As confirmed by the Mail’s Matt Barlow, Pochettino pocketed £8.5 million a season at Tottenham.
Is Mourinho really worth the extra £7.5 million a year?
Jose will be on the usual Jose-sized contract it seems. Rather than Poch’s piffling £8.5m per year. Deal closed last night by Pini Zahavi who first brought him to Chelsea in 2004.

How much did Mourinho earn at Man United?
It seems that Mourinho has maintained his usual wages.
The Guardian previously reported the following on Mourinho’s salary at Man United:
(Mourinho) was earning £15m a year at Old Trafford.
Pini Zahavi brought the Special One to Spurs
Matt Barlow has also revealed how Tottenham closed terms with Mourinho:
Deal closed last night by Pini Zahavi who first brought him to Chelsea in 2004.
Now 76, Israeli Pini Zahavi is known for being one of the most powerful agents in football.
In recent seasons Pini Zahavi has helped broker Neymar’s world-record move from Barcelona to PSG.
Elsewhere, Zavahi became Robert Lewandowski’s agent in the spring of 2018.
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe wins two awards
PSG striker Kylian Mbappe won France’s Player of the Year in France and the Young Player of the Year awards on Sunday night.
It’s been a remarkable campaign for Mbappe in the French capital.
In Ligue 1 he’s scored 32 goals in just 28 games.
Mbappe is the first French striker to score 32 goals in the league since Philippe Gondet did so for Nantes in 1965-66.
Overall, the 20-year-old World Cup winner has scored 40 goals in all competitions.
Mbappe drops PSG exit hint
But will Mbappe still be a PSG player at the start of the 2019-20 season?
The former Monaco starlet is under contract at the Parc de Princes until 2023.
However, when picking up his awards on Sunday night, Mbappe suggested he could leave PSG. He said:
It’s a very important moment for me, I come to a turning point in my career.
I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is maybe the moment to have more responsibility.
I hope that can perhaps be at Paris St Germain, that would be a great pleasure. Or maybe elsewhere with a new project.
I want to first dedicate this to president Nasser (Al Khelaifi). He has always been honest with me since the first day I arrived so I want to thank him. I want to thank everyone here who contributed to this championship.
Mbappe has thrown his future into doubt by hinting that he could look elsewhere…😱

Golden Shoe: Leo Messi vs Mbappe
For the past two seasons, Barcelona’s Leo Messi has won the Golden Shoe award.
The Golden Shoe is an award handed to the top scorer in league matches among the top divisions in Europe.
Messi is in line to win the award again this season, while Mbappe is the only player able to stop the Argentine.
On Sunday, in Barcelona’s final La Liga match of the season, Messi scored a brace in a 2-2 draw at Eibar.
Those goals meant Messi scored 36 goals in the Spanish top flight this season.
As for Mbappe, he also scored a brace last weekend as PSG beat Dijon 4-0.
Mbappe is up to 32 goals prior to PSG’s final match of the Ligue 1 season next weekend at Reims.
The equation is now simple for Mbappe. He needs to score four goals next weekend to share the Golden Shoe with Messi.

Mbappe spoke about challenging Messi for the Golden Shoe, saying:
Yes I’m aiming for the Golden Shoe this year. This afternoon I took a break in my nap to see Messi’s match – after his two goals I went back to bed!
I still have 90 minutes (to play), I have nothing to lose!

As per a report from the reliable Athletic, Premier League giants Manchester United will not sanction the sale of midfielder Paul Pogba in the winter transfer window.
Speculation surrounding the future of Red Devils star man Pogba was rife all summer.
On the back of a hit-and-miss campaign last time out, during which the Frenchman again proved himself to be one of the most infuriatingly-inconsistent players in world football, Pogba was heavily-targeted by the United faithful on the final day of the season:

As such, the growing tension between the 26-year-old and the Red Devils, coupled with Real Madrid’s public chase of a superstar midfield addition, resulted in Pogba being hotly-tipped to make a move to the Bernabeu.
The former Juventus man’s agent, Mino Raiola, meanwhile, added fuel to the fire regarding a potential summer exit from Old Trafford for his client back in July, in admitting:
‘Everyone within the club from the manager to the owner knows Paul’s wishes.’
‘Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.’
Pogba staying put.. For now
In the end, however, upon the European transfer deadline passing in September, Pogba remained a Manchester United player.
This has not, though, put an end to the speculation surrounding his future.
An explosive report from Spanish outlet Cope last month claimed that Pogba, despite having not featured for the Red Devils since the end of September, is actually fully fit to play.
This comes amid suggestions that the World Cup winner is attempting to force through a January departure.
The report also stated that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had opened to the idea of Pogba moving on.
As per the aforementioned update courtesy of the Athletic, though, United’s star midfielder will be going nowhere this winter.
Andy Mitten has revealed that those in charge at Old Trafford have ruled out the possibility of Pogba being sold following the turn of the year.
