Jose Mourinho aims less-than-subtle dig at Man United boss Solskjaer: ‘I’m going to try and get a job like Ole has’

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho this evening took aim at current Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with a typically-ruthless jibe.

United vs Liverpool

Solskjaer’s men welcomed historic rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford a short time ago, for their latest Premier League outing.

The hosts headed into proceedings in the midst of an abysmal run of form.

United had notched just a solitary win from their last 5 fixtures across all competitions, a run which left the Manchester giants sitting 15th in the English top-flight table.

Liverpool, on the other hand, had enjoyed an exemplary opening 2 months to the season.

Before today, Jurgen Klopp’s side had racked up 8 wins from 8 in their bid to dethrone Premier League champions Manchester City, a run of results which left the Reds with a healthy lead over the 2nd-placed Citizens atop the league table.

Lallana secures point

When all was said and done at Old Trafford this evening, though, Liverpool’s perfect start to the Premier League campaign was brought to an end.

A disappointing 90 minutes in Manchester eventually saw both sides forced to settle for a point.

Marcus Rashford opened the game’s scoring with 36 minutes on the clock, getting on the end of Daniel James’ pinpoint delivery to slot beyond Alisson from close range.

Liverpool grew into proceedings as the clash wore on, though, before levelling things up through substitute Adam Lallana 5 minutes from time.

As such, the visitors’ advantage over Manchester City atop the Premier League table now sits at 6 points.

‘A job like Ole has’

Manchester United, though, remain in a lowly 13th-place in the English top-tier, just 2 points clear of the relegation zone.

The Red Devils actually impressed during stretches this evening, but have once again been left with more questions than answers under the guidance of the under-fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And one individual who couldn’t help but direct a not-so-subtle dig at the Norwegian tactician this evening is former United boss Jose Mourinho.

Speaking on Sky Sports during the Red Devils’ latest outing, the legendary manager joked that, if he is to return to the dugout, he hopes it will be in a position like that currently occupied by Solsjaer at Old Trafford.

This would be to ensure that he can ‘speak all the time about the future’, even if things are going altogether-underwhelmingly in the present:
