Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that midfielder Tanguy Ndombele actually requested to be left out of the club’s matchday squad versus Brighton.
Spurs bounce back
The Lilywhites welcomed Graham Potter’s men to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium yesterday afternoon, for a Premier League clash.
Spurs headed into proceedings hoping for a bounce-back result, on the back of a hugely-disappointing defeat last time out.
A meeting with capital rivals Chelsea eventually saw Mourinho’s men put to the sword by 2 goals to nil.
This brought to an end a run of 4 wins in 5 in the league for Tottenham.
When all was said and done in the Boxing day early kick-off, though, the north Londoners got things back on track.
Brighton actually took the lead in the clash, courtesy of Adam Webster.
Spurs, though, clawed their way back into things following the interval, as goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli eventually secured all 3 points for the hosts.

‘Not feeling in condition to play’
One of Spurs’ stars to have missed out on their victory yesterday, though, was Tanguy Ndombele.
French midfielder Ndombele has endured a tough start to life in England, following his summer arrival from Lyon.
The 22-year-old has been struggling with persistent fitness issues of late, with Jose Mourinho having confirmed before kick-off versus Brighton that fear of picking up yet another injury actually saw Ndombele opt against making himself available for selection:
‘He told me he was not feeling in condition to play.’
‘I cannot say he is injured. In five minutes we start a training session [on the pitch after the game] and you can go to the stands and watch it. He is going to be training normally so I cannot say he is injured.’
‘Feeling not ready to start the game, but I cannot say he is injured. I can say he is not in condition to start the game, which is different.’
‘Not based on injuries, based on fears.’
