Jurgen Klopp provides updates on Lovren, Wijnaldum & Lallana before Salzburg

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has this evening provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their crunch clash with RB Salzburg.

Liverpool back in action

The European champions are set to wrap up their Champions League group stage endeavours tomorrow evening.

Klopp’s men face a tricky trip to Austria, to take on surprise package RB Salzburg.

As things stand, Group E remains wide open, with Liverpool topping the table on 10 points, narrowly ahead of 2nd-placed Napoli.

Salzburg, meanwhile, sit 3rd, with an impressive 7 points.

As such, as things stand, Liverpool could still be ousted from the Champions League tomorrow night.

The Reds, though, will no doubt head into proceedings in 24 hours’ time brimming with confidence, on the back of 3 straight Premier League victories, since their disappointing draw with Napoli late last month.

Their latest 3-point haul came this past weekend, when the Merseyside giants made short work of Bournemouth at the Vitality, en route to a 3-0 win.

Lovren boost

One concern on an otherwise positive afternoon for Liverpool on Saturday, however, were the absences of a number of players from the club’s matchday squad.

Both Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana were late scratches from the Reds’ travelling panel, after picking up respective fitness problems.

Dejan Lovren was then forced off during the first-half at the Vitality, an immediate source of concern for Liverpool, with fellow central-defender Joel Matip a long-term injury absentee.

As such, speaking in his pre-Salzburg press conference this evening, Jurgen Klopp was inevitably drawn on the fitness of the aforementioned stars.

In a boost to the prospects of the Premier League leaders, though, the German tactician went on to confirm that both Lovren and Wijnaldum are fit to feature tomorrow night.

Adam Lallana, though, will miss out.

Klopp added that Joel Matip is not expected to return to action until the new year.
