Chelsea vs Southampton
Chelsea’s next outing sees them play host to relegation-battling Southampton on Thursday.
The Blues put an end to their mini dip in form this past weekend when they outplayed Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side.
Chelsea left Spurs with a 2-0 victory, further cementing their place in the Premier League top-four.
The London outfit have now opened up a four-point gap between themselves and 5th place Sheffield United.
And Frank Lampard’s side will no doubt be keen to extend or maintain that lead by picking up all three points vs Southampton.
However, despite their league position, the Saints will likely be a tough test for Chelsea. Southampton have won three of their last five league outings with their star striker Danny Ings in fine goalscoring form.
Lampard would hold his pre-Southampton press conference on Tuesday.
During the presser, Lampard was asked about Chelsea’s injuries. The young manager confirmed Cesar Azpilicueta has a small issue that will need to be checked:
“Azpilicueta has small issue and will check that one. Slightly hammy. Other than that bumps and bruises.” As quoted by football.london.
Chelsea linked with Real Madrid’s Isco
The Southampton tie will be Chelsea’s penultimate league outing before the end of 2019.
The January transfer window will, of course, then be open and Chelsea are now able to sign players in said window after their transfer ban was reduced.
Now though, the Mirror are reporting that Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid’s Isco for £44m.
The midfield maestro has racked up 290 appearances during his stint at the Bernabeu but the Mirror are claiming that Los Blancos are trying to offload players to make way for a move for Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.
