Man United line up new deals for Mason Greenwood plus 5 teenagers & Lee O’Connor signs for Celtic

Mason Greenwood’s new Man United deal

Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell has broken the news that Mason Greenwood may soon agree a new contract with Man United.

Greenwood, 17, is the third choice striker at Old Trafford this season following Alexis Sanchez’s move to Inter.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are above Greenwood in the pecking order. However, the teenager has featured in all four Man United matches in the league so far.

Should Greenwood put pen to paper on a new deal, the forward is set to receive a pay raise. Laurie Whitwell reports:

United are keen to reward Greenwood for his progress and emerging status in the first team, and talks have commenced over improved terms.

Insiders believe Greenwood could expect to negotiate around £25,000 per week, with increases for the number of games played and significant appearance fee bonuses.

Man United also line up five other contracts

Man United are also looking to secure the futures of five other youngsters at Old Trafford, report the Athletic.

Those other players include Angel Gomes (19), James Garner (18), Tahith Chong (19), Brandon Williams (19) and Ethan Laird (18).

The Atheltic fail to detail when these contracts may be finalised.

Lee O’Connor signs for Celtic

Sticking with Man United’s youth setup, Lee O’Connor left Old Trafford on Monday to join Celtic.

18-year-old O’Connor agreed a four-year deal with Celtic.

O’Connor is able to play across the backline as well as in midfield.

Speaking about his move to Celtic, the teenager said:

I just want to get started, work hard and give it my all, and hopefully the manager and all the staff will see why they’ve brought me here and I can make an impact.
