Saul Niguez has spent his entire senior career with Atletico Madrid.
The midfielder was promoted to their senior side in 2013 before being sent out on loan to fellow Spanish outfit, Rayo Vallecano.
Since returning from his loan, Niguez has cemented himself as a pivotal member of Atletico’s senior side.
The now 25-year-old has racked up 270 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish powerhouse.
In those 270 appearances, Niguez has scored 35 and provided 18 assists.
Niguez has also won a plethora of trophies during his stint with Atletico, including two Europa League titles.
Atletico prepared to lower asking price
Niguez’s current contract with Atletico Madrid is not set to expire until 2026.
But despite the midfielder still having around six years left on his current deal, could he be on the move soon?
The Telegraph published a report concerning Niguez on Saturday the 14th of December.
In said report, the Telegraph claim that Niguez’s current buy-out clause is around £125m.
However, the report also claims that Atletico are prepared to lower said asking price if Niguez wishes to depart the club when the transfer window opens.
The fee the Telegraph claim Atletico are willing to lower Niguez’s asking price to is £85m.
This has put Manchester United, who are long-term admirers of the 25-year-old, and other Premier League clubs on alert, as per the Telegraph.
