Manchester United took on their bitter rivals Manchester City on Tuesday evening in the first of two League Cup semi-final clashes.
United were well beaten and left Old Trafford with a 3-1 deficit to overturn in the second leg taking place on January 29th at the Etihad.

Now, on Wednesday, the Telegraph have reported that the no-nonsense defender has suffered a torn hip muscle and could face ‘a sustained spell on the sidelines’.
Man United eyeing loan for defender
Losing Maguire for any period of time would arguably be a huge blow for United.
After making the switch to Old Trafford over the summer, Maguire has cemented himself as a key fixture in the United backline.
And outside of Maguire, it is hard to see much quality amongst Man United’s central defenders.
Victor Lindelof has been the man partnering Maguire at the back for much of this campaign. But as demonstrated by another subpar display vs Man City, the Swedish international just doesn’t look good enough to be a regular feature for a club trying to challenge for a Champions League place.
With Maguire absent vs City, Phil Jones would be the man tasked with partnering Lindelof and like Lindelof, Jones just doesn’t look good enough.
And to add to United’s defensive woes, the Manchester Evening News claimed that Jones suffered cramp towards the end of the City game, meaning Lindelof could be Man United’s only fit senior centre-back for their clash with Norwich on Saturday.
The Manchester Evening News also reported that United are considering a loan deal for a centre-back after Maguire’s injury.
