Marco Silva confirms Kevin Mirallas is close to leaving Everton

Mirallas set to end his stay at Goodison

Everton boss Marco Silva has confirmed that winger Kevin Mirallas is close to leaving the club, with Yannick Bolasie possibly following him out the door.

The Toffees have been trying to trim back their squad for a couple of seasons now.

The team became extremely bloated during the 2017/18 season when all of Ronald Koeman, David Unsworth and Sam Allardyce were in charge throughout the campaign.

That left director of football Marcel Brands attempting to trim Everton’s squad from last summer.

Players such as Ademola Lookman, Nikola Vlasic, Henry Onyekuru, James McCarthy, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Willams have all left the club this summer.

The likes of Sandro Ramirez, Muhamed Besic and Luke Garbutt have all left on loan too.

Now, it looks as though Kevin Mirallas will suffer the same fate and Yannick Bolasie could follow him.

Mirallas on his way to Antwerp

After pictures circulated on Thursday of Kevin Mirallas at Royal Antwerp vs AZ Alkmaar, Silva confirmed that Mirallas is close to leaving.

“Nothing official yet. We are waiting for the next few hours to see what happens, but it is close to happening,” Silva explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Silva was then asked about Bolasie, who is also surplus to requirements.

The winger spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and Anderlecht.

The Everton boss suggested that nothing is certain yet but the club are looking to find a solution for him and Mirallas.

“They know my decisions about the squad. Not just both, but they all know my decisions for the squad,” Silva continued.

“About Kevin let’s see what happens during this day, with Bolasie the club is saying things with him but at the moment we don’t have nothing for sure so it is not for me to talk about this situation.

“Of course we as a club are trying to help them to find a solution also, because in my opinion it is important for them to play as much as they can, because after if they stay here one season not playing football it’s not the best thing for them.”

Great performance from the team today. 3 points and a clean sheet, the best way to respond to our last group game.
