Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off sees Arsenal traveling to Crystal Palace.
You can check out 101’s betting tips for the clash here.
The Gunners will begin the weekend’s action 10th in the English top-flight, nine points off 4th place, Chelsea.
So, with over half the campaign behind us, Arsenal really need to start putting together a good run of results, if they wish to earn a Champions League place.
Mikel Arteta has only been in the Arsenal dugout for three games now.
But in that short period, the Spaniard does look to have improved Arsenal a bit.
The North London outfit saw off Manchester United by two goals to nil in their last league outing before beating Leeds 1-0 in an FA Cup 3rd round clash.
Crystal Palace will likely prove another tough test for the Gunners though.
The Eagles are above Arsenal in the PL table by a point and have lost just one of their last five league outings.
Arteta on Aubameyang
Arteta would hold his pre-Palace press conference on Thursday.
During the presser, the Arsenal boss spoke about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang was linked with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid in December.
However, ahead of the Leeds clash, Aubameyang appeared to rubbish those rumours in his programme notes, stating:
“People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
Mikel Arteta would speak about those comments in his latest presser, stating he was pleased to read them:
“I was very pleased to read those comments.
“He knows exactly what I think about him and obviously he’s a massive player for us. But at the moment we’re in the middle of the season and we haven’t discussed anything further on that at the club.” As quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
Arteta then went on to claim his intentions are to keep Aubameyang. But the Arsenal boss also conceded he didn’t know how confident he was of Aubameyang, who is contracted to Arsenal until 2021, staying:
“My intention is to keep Auba obviously because I know that if we keep Auba with us, we’re going to be stronger and closer to winning football matches. That’s the only thing.
“I don’t know [how confident I am that he will stay], we haven’t discussed that. But I’m confident that he’s very happy here because that’s what he said in the media.” As quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
