Mino Raiola and the reasons Man United opted against pursuing Erling Haaland interest

An explanation for Manchester United choosing not to move forward with their interest in the signature of RB Salzburg star Erling Braut Haaland has emerged online.

Haaland joins Dortmund

Today’s big news across the European media arrived earlier this afternoon, when it was confirmed that Salzburg sensation Haaland had found a new club.

In something of a bolt from the blue, it was announced that German giants Borussia Dortmund had won the race for the in-demand teen.

Haaland has put pen-to-paper on a 4-and-a-half-year deal at the Westfalenstadion, and will join up with his new teammates imminently.

United miss out

Dortmund’s signing of Haaland is understandably viewed as quite a coup, with the striker having racked up a frankly-staggering 28 goals and 7 assists across all competitions already this season., despite being just 19 years old.

This return had inevitably seen a host of European football’s heavyweights linked with the striker’s signature.

Chief among these were Juventus and, perhaps most persistently of all, Manchester United.

The Red Devils were said to have placed Haaland, alongside Leicester City’s James Maddison, atop their January transfer wishlist.

As such, the news that the former had opted to make the move to Dortmund no doubt came as a major blow to the droves of expectant United fans worldwide.

If the latest reports spreading across Europe this evening are to be believed, though, then those in charge of transfers at Old Trafford actually came to the collective decision not to pursue their interest in Haaland.

This came as a result of the demands of notorious super-agent Mino Raiola.

It is claimed that the Dutchman requested both a buyout clause in Haaland’s contract, and an agreement regarding the percentage of any future sale, to green light a transfer.

Manchester United, though, refused to bow to Raiola’s demands.

Sky Sports, meanwhile, have also reported that:

‘The stumbling block (is) believed to be the value of the buy-out clause, should the striker move to another club.’
