A return to England for Lookman?
Newcastle have reportedly held talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for former Everton winger Ademola Lookman, with the player wanting to leave Germany.
Lookman has had a turbulent few seasons, to say the least.
The winger joined Everton back in 2017 with pretty high expectations.
Those expectations only grew when Lookman scored on his debut against Manchester City.
However, Lookman failed to kick on from there, scoring just four goals and assisting two at his time at Goodison Park.
During his spell at Everton, Lookman spent time at RB Leipzig on loan, where he impressed.
After returning to the Merseyside club, Leipzig failed to convince Everton to sell, but eventually got their man last summer.
Now, having only made three Bundesliga appearances this season, Newcastle could bring him back to the Premier League.
Newcastle could make a loan offer with an option to buy
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle have held ‘preliminary discussions’ with RB Leipzig over a deal for Lookman.
They claim: ‘Lookman wants to leave Leipzig, just six months after joining the Bundesliga club from Everton.‘
Lookman is supposedly on the ‘priority list’ for the current transfer window, and the club could make a loan offer with an option to buy at the end of the season.
That could be a brilliant piece of business for Steve Bruce and Newcastle if Lookman can showcase his ability, as he did during his loan spell at RB Leipzig.
According to Sky, while Steve Bruce is keen to bring in a winger this month, a striker is his priority.
