A busy day at Everton
Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly rejected an approach from Everton, with the club also being linked with Marcelino and José Bordalás.
The Toffees sacked Marco Silva on Thursday afternoon, just under 24 hours after they were picked apart by Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
The 5-2 loss proved to be Silva’s last game, with Everton suffering their ninth loss of the season, having played just 15 games.
A fair few names have been linked with the managerial job since yesterday.
It was also suggested that Vítor Pereira was Everton’s favoured choice and talks are set to begin shortly.
Now, in a new report from the Athletic, two more names have been thrown into the hat, while one has been ruled out.
No from Poch, Marcelino & Bordalas linked
According to The Athletic, Mauricio Pochettino has rejected an approach from Everton.
The Argentine manager has been out of work since being sacked by Spurs a few weeks ago.
It always looked a long shot from an Everton standpoint, but Pochettino now looks to be well and truly out of the race.
The Athletic have reported two newcomers to the race, however.
Ex-Valencia manager Marcelino has been loosely linked before, but the Athletic claim he has now been contacted by Everton.
He is also supposedly keen on coming to England.
Getafe manager José Bordalás has also been linked, with the Athletic claiming the Spaniard is on Everton’s shortlist.
They also maintain that David Moyes is in the frame to replace Marco Silva.
In what could be an ambitious move, reports elsewhere have suggested Carlo Ancelotti is on Everton’s shortlist.
