Reports of racist abuse towards Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger during Tottenham clash

Chelsea see off Tottenham

Chelsea and Tottenham went head-to-head on Sunday in the final Premier League game of the day.

Tottenham headed into the tie in much better form than their opponents as Chelsea had lost four of their last five league outings before kicking off on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Spurs had climbed up to 5th in the table ahead of the weekend’s action with the Lilywhites winning four of their previous five PL ties under Jose Mourinho.

However, it would be Chelsea who dominated proceedings as Frank Lampard got one over on his former boss.

Willian opened the scoring with 12 minutes on the clock and then added a second in first-half injury time.

The tie would eventually finish 2-0 with the Blues putting some much-needed breathing space between themselves and 5th place.

Reports of racists abuse

But what should have been an entertaining evening of football was marred by reports of racist abuse.

Proceedings seemed to begin to take a turn for the worse when Chelsea’s goalkeeper Kepa had something thrown at him.

It was then reported that Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger had racist abuse aimed at him.

There was then an announcement over the PA system at Tottenham addressing said behaviour.

The first announcement was followed by another two in the stadium addressing the abuse.
