Sky’s Ancelotti-Everton meeting claims denied

Conflicting reports surrounding a rumoured meeting between Carlo Ancelotti and the Everton board have emerged online this evening.

Silva sacked

On the back of an abysmal start to the campaign, a long-anticipated change at the helm at Goodison Park was confirmed two weeks ago.

A 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Merseyside rivals Liverpool proved the final nail in the coffin of Marco Silva, as the Toffees’ hierarchy opted to part ways with the Portuguese tactician:

The post-Silva era at Everton, meanwhile, has since gotten off to a positive start, under the guidance of Duncan Ferguson.

Club legend Ferguson was named interim Toffees boss on the back of Silva’s exit, and has gone on to guide his side to 4 points from a pair of tough Premier League fixtures, versus Chelsea and Manchester United.

Conflicting Ancelotti claims

As such, many have since speculated that Ferguson could be handed the reins at Goodison Park on a permanent basis.

The general assumption in the media, though, remains that those in charge at Everton hope to install a more experienced option on the club’s bench over the coming weeks.

One of the surprise names to be have been touted as a candidate of late, meanwhile, has been Carlo Ancelotti.

Italian tactician Ancelotti is currently out of work, after being dismissed by Serie A giants Napoli last week.

And claims that the 60-year-old was taking into serious consideration the role of new Everton boss ramped up earlier this afternoon, when Sky Sports reported that Ancelotti had flown to Merseyside for talks with the Toffees’ brass:

Such claims, however, have since been point-blank denied elsewhere in the media.

The likes of Adam Crafton and Guillem Balague assure that Ancelotti is in fact currently in his home country of Italy, in Rome:
