Manchester City vs Manchester United
The first Manchester derby of the 2019/20 Premier League season is set to take place this coming weekend.
Manchester United will travel to Manchester City in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off as they look to close the gap between themselves and their neighbours.
United head into the weekend’s action 6th in the English top-flight. But they are eight points off a Champions League spot and 12 points adrift of City.
As for the Citizens, despite picking up a comprehensive victory over Burnley in midweek, they remain 11 points off table-topping Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s men are also currently still three points behind 2nd place Leicester who are in a fine vein of form.
Solskjaer on Pogba & Martial
Ahead of the Manchester derby, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held his pre-match press conference on Friday.
During the presser, Solskjaer provided updates on both Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba.
Martial missed United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham earlier this week but OGS is hopeful the attacker can play some role on Saturday, although he is unsure if Martial can start:
“We hope to have Anthony, definitely, for part of the game. I am not sure he is able to start.”
As for Pogba, Solskjaer confirmed it is unlikley he will be available vs Man City:
“Paul probably won’t be available, no.
“We expect him back as soon as possible, as quickly as possible. He’s out on the grass training. I said [he’ll be back] in 2019, so hopefully we’ll see him before the new year, definitely.” As quoted by Manchester United’s official website.
