Steve Bruce gives Newcastle injury update ahead of Man City

Newcastle vs Man City

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off sees Newcastle playing host to Manchester City.

The Magpies had a pretty slow start to the campaign under Steve Bruce but their form has been improving in recent weeks.

Granted, Newcastle did lose to Aston Villa in their last tie but before that they were three league games unbeaten.

The North-East outfit begin the weekend’s action 14th in the English top-flight but a win over City could move them as high as 9th.

As for Man City, they are sat 3rd in the PL, still nine points adrift of table-topping Liverpool.

Newcastle injury update

Ahead of what will likely prove a tough clash, Steve Bruce held his pre-match press conference on Friday.

During the presser, Bruce gave an injury update and luckily for Newcastle it was rather brief as Bruce stated apart from DeAndre Yedlin, everyone is ok:

“We’ve got a problem with DeAndre Yedlin. He’s hurt his hip. Apart from that everybody else is OK.”

Bruce also spoke about Matt Ritchie after Newcastle confirmed on Thursday that he would be out until January:

“We’re devastated and so is he. We did give him a period of rest, he went to see the specialist again and had the operation the next morning. We hope this time he’s back in training in early January.”
