The reliable Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Tammy Abraham is inching closer to penning a new contract at Chelsea.
22-year-old striker Abraham has endured a fine campaign to date, on the back of his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
After a prolific 2018/19 in the Championship with Aston Villa, Blues boss Frank Lampard opted to hand the Englishman a chance to impress as part of his first-team squad, after a transfer embargo prevented Chelsea from adding to the club’s options up top.
And to say that Abraham has since gone on to grasp his opportunity with both hands would be putting it lightly.
The Pensioners youth product has cemented himself as the club’s undisputed first-choice centre-forward, confining the more experienced Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi to the bench.
All told, across all competitions, Abraham has racked up an impressive 14 goals and 5 assists.

Abraham’s new deal?
The latest of Abraham’s strikes came this afternoon, during a London derby meeting with Arsenal.
With the scoreline at 1-1, and just minutes remaining in the 90, the Chelsea hitman was picked out by Willian with his back to goal.
And Abraham went on to showcase his unquestionable class with his finish, rolling Shkodran Mustafi with a superb first touch, before smashing a low strike beyond the helpless Bernd Leno.
The Blues’ official Twitter account subsequently posted the following in celebration, on the back of what turned out to be their side’s winner:
TAMMY MAKES IT TWO!!!! 🙌

And, somewhat unusually, one of the replies to Chelsea’s Tweet has since been garnering plenty of attention.
The comment came courtesy of reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claimed that a ‘new contract is coming’ for Abraham at Stamford Bridge:
…and new contract is coming! ✍🏻🔜
