Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has this afternoon provided a fitness update on Fikayo Tomori, ahead of his side’s meeting with Bournemouth.
Chelsea back in action
Lampard’s men are set to welcome the Cherries to Stamford Bridge tomorrow afternoon, for their latest Premier League outing.
Chelsea will head into proceedings in search of a bounce-back performance, having disappointed on the domestic front of late.
Though they did manage to secure their spot in the last-16 of the Champions League last night, the Blues have fallen to defeats in 3 of their last 4 league fixtures.
The latest of these came last weekend, when Everton’s first matchup following Marco Silva’s dismissal saw the Toffees put Chelsea to the sword by 3 goals to 1 at Goodison Park.
As such, the Londoners’ struggles, coupled with the upturns in form being enjoyed by both Manchester United and Tottenham, mean that Chelsea are no doubt desperate to secure all 3 points versus Bournemouth, to maintain their comfortable top-4 advantage.
Tomori ruled out
The capital giants, though, will have to make do without one of their key performers from the early months of the campaign tomorrow afternoon.
The individual in question is Fikayo Tomori.
Central-defender Tomori missed Chelsea’s win over Lille on Tuesday with a hip problem, and has not recovered in time to feature versus Bournemouth:
On the subject of full-backs, Lampard says Reece James has developed plenty this season and has really benefitted from training and playing alongside the experienced Cesar Azpilicueta.
The boss finishes the press conference by ruling Tomori out of tomorrow’s game. #CHEBOU
