Arsenal have this afternoon provided an update on the fitness of defender Hector Bellerin, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Crystal Palace.
Arsenal back in action
Mikel Arteta’s men are set to return to Premier League action this weekend, in a meeting with capital rivals Palace.
The influence of new Gunners boss Arteta has begun to take effect over the last couple of weeks, with Arsenal having put a dismal spell of form firmly behind them with a pair of consecutive wins.
After first putting Manchester United to the sword by 2 goals to nil in the league last week, the north Londoners followed up by securing their spot in the 4th-round of the FA Cup on Monday night.
A hard-fought meeting with Leeds United eventually saw Arsenal emerge with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of Reiss Nelson’s 2nd-half strike.
As such, the Gunners will no doubt be hopeful of carrying their upturn in form into their tricky trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
And, ahead of facing off with Palace, Arsenal have today provided a fitness update on Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The main focus was on Hector Bellerin, who has not taken to the pitch for over a month, since picking up a hamstring issue in the warmup for his side’s meeting with West Ham on the 9th of December.
The Spaniard, though, could mark his return this weekend, with Bellerin ‘being assessed’ as things stand.
As per Arsenal’s official website:
Tight right hamstring. Being assessed ahead of Crystal Palace (a).
There were also updates forthcoming on long-term injury absentees Calum Chambers and Kieran Tierney:
Left knee. Ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Chelsea (h) on 29 December. Successful surgery completed. Rehabilitation process expected to take between six to nine months.
Right shoulder. Dislocated right shoulder during West Ham Utd (a) on 9 December. Successful surgery completed. Rehabilitation process expected to take around three months, aiming to return to full training in March.
