Tottenham into FA Cup 4th round
Tottenham played host to Middlesbrough in an FA Cup 3rd round replay on Tuesday.
The two sides had previously played out a tight 1-1 draw at the Riverside earlier this month.
But Tuesday’s tie looked set to produce a very different result when the Lilywhites found themselves two goals to the good inside 15 minutes.
However, Boro would slowly grow into the game with Spurs once again looking a bit shaky at the back.
George Saville pulled one back for Middlesbrough in the 83rd minute but Jose Mourinho’s side would hold out for the win.
The North London outfit will now take on fellow Premier League side Southampton in the 4th round.

Vertonghen on contract situation
After the win over Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough, Jan Vertonghen would speak to the media.
The Belgian has been an integral member of Spurs’ backline since making the switch from Ajax in 2012.
However, the 32-year-old is out of contract in the summer and as we are now in January, the no-nonsense central defender is able to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs.
And when speaking about his contract situation after the victory over Boro, Vertonghen remained rather coy, although, he did state he was happy and enjoying life in London.
When asked about his contract situation, the defender had this to say:
“I won’t answer… I feel like everything I say will affect it in one way or another, so I prefer not to answer.
“I’m a happy man and I love the guys. Life is good in London and at this great club, so that’s all I want to say.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
