Arsenal vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Arsenal are set to welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Emirates on Thursday evening.
The Gunners head into the tie in a fairly dominant position in their Europa League group.
Arsenal are currently sat top of Group F with 10 points amassed from their previous four group games.
2nd place Standard Liege and 3rd place Frankfurt are both four points adrift of Arsenal.
So, a win or for the North London outfit this evening would ensure they earn a spot in the Europa League knock-out stages.
While Frankfurt were one of the standout teams in last season’s Europa League campaign, only being eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Chelsea, the German outfit have lost a bit of their spark this campaign.
Emery’s Arsenal future
So, should Arsenal fail to win tonight, how big an impact could that have on Unai Emery’s future with the club?
Whilst they have been doing fairly when in an average Europa League group, the Gunners’ league form is a cause for concern.
Heading into the weekend’s action Arsenal are down to 8th in the English top-flight, winless in five league outings and eight points off a Champions League place.
Now, with Arsenal seemingly in decline under the guidance of Emery, the Telegraph are reporting that his future with Arsenal is hanging by a thread.
The Telegraph claims Arsenal’s hierarchy are considering replacements due to the club’s winless run and a widespread loss of faith by supporters.
