Fernandes to West Ham?
Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes looks to have attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs this month.
But it looks to be the Hammers who are winning the race for the young midfielder.
Sky Sports News have reported on Wednesday that West Ham have agreed a deal in principle to sign Fernandes on an 18-month loan without an option to buy.
SSN also claims West Ham had initially offered an 18-month loan deal with an obligation to buy for £33m.
It has been reported that Fernandes, who has made 59 appearances for Benfica’s senior side, has a release clause of £102m.
Moyes on Fernandes
New West Ham boss David Moyes would also speak about Fernandes during his latest pre-match press conference on Thursday.
West Ham will travel to Sheffield United on Friday for a Premier League clash. You can check out 101’s betting tips for the game here.
When asked about Fernandes in his pre-Sheff United presser, Moyes would confirm he is one name they are talking about:
“We won’t be bringing in a bundle of players and obviously we’d like to add to the squad if we can.
“He’s one name which we’re talking about.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
And when asked to confirm if a deal had been agreed, the Scotsman had this to say:
“I couldn’t tell you since I’ve come in from training to the press conference. Maybe something has been done but I can’t confirm that at the moment.
“He’s a young player with potential, probably more so for the future. He’s got good pedigree and I’d like to bring in young players in for the future, who we can look to build upon and get a nice strong young team.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.
